Bea Forniss is currently serving as the Director of REAP (the Governor’s Resources and Economic Assistance Programs) at the Department of Economic and Community Affairs for the State of Alabama. Specifically, she supervises the Renewal Communities Program, the Enterprise Zone Community Program, the Delta Regional Authority as Board alternate for Alabama, the Minority Business Program, and Housing Opportunities for people with AIDS. Bea also provides technical assistance for Community and Economic Development projects in distressed areas. Bea taught public school for several years and served as a School
Counselor in the Lowndes County and Montgomery Public School systems
before leaving to work with the State of Alabama at the Alabama
Department of Economic and Community Affairs as the Special Projects
Director.Bea is a native of Mobile, Alabama. She graduated from Alabama State University in 1972, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and a minor in Library Science. She completed her Master’s degree in Counseling from ASU in 1974. She is married to Leon Forniss, Warden III at the Staton Correctional Facility.
