Apply to the Delta Leadership Institute's Executive Academy

Applications for the 2014-2015 DLI Executive Academy are no longer being accepted.

The Delta Leadership Institute (DLI) provides a yearlong leadership development program for regional leaders desiring to prepare themselves to collaborate regionally and lead change. The DLI is looking for motivated individuals who are leaders in their communities and wish to broaden their understanding of leadership and regional collaboration. Participants will attend two four-day sessions and four three-day sessions, with speakers and workshops aimed at working through community, county and state leaders to enhance the quality of life in the Delta region.

In order to succeed in building one of the best leadership programs and Alumni groups in the region, a participant must be willing to:

  • Attend Orientation, graduation and all program sessions currently planned for:
    • September 21-24, 2014 - Orientation in Oxford, Mississippi
    • November 11-13, 2014 - Marion, IL
    • January 20-22, 2015 New Orleans, LA
    • March 3-5, 2015 - Memphis, TN
    • May 12-15, 2015 - Washington, DC (*contingent upon congressional schedule)
    • July 20-24, 2015 - Graduation in Point Clear, AL
  • Participate in group activities over the course of the year, including assignments between sessions,
  • Assume minimal financial responsibility. (Although each person is given a scholarship, participants may incur some meal and miscellaneous expenses.)
  • Attend all sessions (If you cannot attend all six sessions, please wait to apply in a future year when full participation is possible)
  • Have employer acknowledgement for time required to participate in the Executive Academy program.

Ideal Candidates for the DLI Executive Academy would:

  • Represent a cross-section of the region, i.e. business, government, education, non-profits.
  • Serve in leadership roles in their communities, organizations, or states.
  • Have potential for assuming leadership roles at regional roles.
  • Commit to managing work and/or home obligations so they do not interfere with attendance and full participation.
