The Illinois Department of Public Health has confirmed six additional cases of swine flu. That brings the state's number of CONFIRMED cases to nine.
Health officials say Illinois still has 90 *probable* cases of swine flu. There's an important difference.
Once state officials receive a positive or probable test for the virus they send it off to federal health officials who confirm the case with additional testing.
The Illinois Department of Public Health has launched a hotline designed to field questions on the H1N1 virus.
The hotline 1-866-241-2138 provides callers with information on the virus.Tom Zimmerman helped launch the hotline last Saturday. He says the response has been good, "As soon as the call went out from Governor Pat Quinn calls came flooding in. As of this morning we've fielded more than 300 calls from citizens." Zimmerman says if they cannot answer your question you will be forwarded to a medical expert or someone else who can.
