Poinsett County named state disaster area

POINSETT COUNTY (KAIT) - Governor Mike Beebe named Poinsett County a state disaster area as a result of flooding that began on April 27th.
Gov. Beebe named a total of 10 counties state disaster areas because of the flooding, including Clark, Dallas, Garland, Jefferson, Lonoke, Miller, Monroe, Phillips, Poinsett, and Saline counties.
Because of the declaration, rental assistance is available through the Arkansas Department of Emergency Management for eligible homeowners and renters whose primary residence was destroyed or made uninhabitable.
Residents in Poinsett County whose primary residence was damaged as a result of storms that began on April 27 may apply for temporary housing assistance by calling ADEM. Those seeking help with the Individual and Family Grant Program may contact the Poinsett County Department of Human Services at 406 North Illinois, Harrisburg (1-870-578-5491).
