100% of funding to build comprehensive plan supplied by DRA

MARION, IL.  – The Delta Regional Authority, through a program partnership with the Economic Development Administration (EDA), today announced a $111,111 contribution to help the Greater Egypt Cluster Development Plan with its marketing strategy.

“This funding will boost the Greater Egypt Cluster Development Plan in their mission to spur job growth and create greater economic stability in southern Illinois,” said Sen. Richard Durbin. “I will continue working alongside the Delta Regional Authority to ensure Illinois’ communities have access to the critical federal resources they need to thrive.”

The money will be used to develop a regional marketing strategy and materials to help attract businesses, jobs, and consumers. The marketing plan will focus on the manufacturing, transportation, warehousing and healthcare sectors.

"I'm delighted to hear of DRA's announced investment to help the Greater Egypt Cluster Development Plan," said U.S. Rep. Mike Bost. "Targeted investments like these have helped to create and sustain thousands of jobs in the region. I look forward to continue working with DRA to encourage economic development and job creation in Southern Illinois."

These investments are funded by a joint program partnership through EDA’s Economic Adjustment Assistance (EAA) program. DRA leadership works closely with the governor of each state and his board designee to identify projects to receive investments, which are aligned with state economic development goals. Investments also are guided by EAA’s priorities: collaborative regional innovation, public/private partnerships, national strategic priorities, global competitiveness, environmentally sustainable development and underserved communities.

“DRA’s investment will help the Greater Egypt Cluster Development Plan shape and build effective strategies to attract businesses and help create new jobs in the area,” said DRA Chairman Chris Masingill. “Our primary role at DRA is to contribute to all efforts that can help attract jobs and build competitive communities in the Delta Region.”
